BRADFORD AWARDS

James C. Bradford Memorial Poster Award

This is an award for the best trainee poster(s) at the annual meetings of the Society for Birth Defects Research and Prevention (BDRP) and Developmental Neurotoxicology Society (DNTS). It is jointly sponsored by the Middle Atlantic Reproduction and Teratology Association (MARTA) and sanofi-aventis. Currently the award consists of a plaque and $500, although the monetary award is subject to change.

Jim Bradford was a past-President of MARTA, Sigma Xi and on Committees of the Society for Birth Defects Research and Prevention. He was Director of R&D Operations at Sanofi at the time of his death. Jim mentored several Developmental and Reproductive Toxicology (DART) scientists and was a pioneer in Industrial DART Testing. Jim was the consummate scientist, well respected and universally liked.

Eligibility requirements:

Currently the award is presented for the best student (undergraduate or graduate) and/or post-doctoral posters presented at the joint BDRP/DNTS meeting.

Judging process:

Judging is based on the poster’s subject, impact, and clarity and on the presenter’s understanding and knowledge (as evaluated by answers to questions from the judges).

MARTA (Middle Atlantic Reproduction and Teratology Association) is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization (Tax ID [EIN]: 47-3896819), incorporated in the state of Pennsylvania. The Association is a regional scientific organization established to foster proficiency and knowledge in the sciences of reproduction and abnormal development/birth defect by acquiring and sharing information with the membership and, when appropriate, individuals outside of MARTA. This is accomplished through programs and communications designed to enlighten MARTA’s membership and those pursuing interests common with MARTA.
